BARN PROJECT
Help us build our barn!
We need YOUR HELP to finish the construction of the barn at Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary. Our barn will be a multipurpose hub where collaboration, learning, and sharing will help create more connected and compassionate communities.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
With a clear plan and adequate funding in 2019, we watched our dream begin to take shape in the form of sturdy foundations, steel frame, and roofing. We were excited to create this safe space that would house our special needs animals, humane education and farm transition resource centre, workshop and retreat space, facilities to generate income for the sanctuary, as well as accommodation for our volunteers and Animal Care Manager. Then COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill, along with our plans.
The on-going pandemic and lockdown restrictions kept our development at a halt, and a lack of in-person fundraising opportunities forced us to redirect any remaining resources towards day-to-day animal care. But while the building of the barn was put on hold, our dreams weren’t, and we’re finally in a position where we can begin working on the structure again.
WHY THIS BARN?
The barn will offer:
Humane Education Centre for teachers and students
Resource Centre for Farm Transitions
Event and conference space with demonstration kitchen
Offices for the sanctuary team and digital nomads
Volunteer accommodation
Animal care and special needs facilities including a medical/treatment room
THE ASK
Foundation Marchig has generously committed to donating US$10,000 to this development’s medical care facilities if we can secure the remaining funds required. Our fundraising goal for the completion of this project is US$54,000 / ZAR1,000,000.

FUNDS RAISED
CONSTRUCTION
The work will be completed, as far as possible, by skilled local builders who have had a hand in the majority of the current structures on the Sanctuary. Specialist contractors such as plumbers and electricians will be brought on site as needed.
